Two men have been charged in connection with a luggage theft where a substance thought to be irritant spray led to people being hurt at the major London air hub.

Tyrone Richards, 31, and Anton Clarke-Butcher, 24, have both been charged with two counts of robbery and two counts of administering a noxious substance, according to official statements.

This legal action stems from an investigation into an assault at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 on the weekend. Earlier that day, two women were robbed of their luggage taken after exiting a car park lift, according to law enforcement.

A toddler was one of the people hurt during the incident. Several persons required hospital care and were later discharged.

The incident – described by police as was a standalone event and deemed non-terroristic – led to train delays and the partial closure of the main airport road tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park for a limited duration.
