Trump Welcomes Loved Ones of Attacked National Guard Members to the Presidential Residence

Former President Trump announced on Sunday that he has invited the loved ones of a Guard member fatally shot last week to attend the presidential home.

He added that he spoke to her family and they were “heartbroken”.

Specialist Beckstrom, 20, was killed in a violent incident on Wednesday in the nation's capital.

Her colleague, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, is still in the hospital in serious condition.

Vigils across West Virginia have been held in their remembrance.

White House Call

The president stated he’s talked about a White House visit for the parents of both soldiers of the state Guard.

“I stated: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a tough thing, come to the White House. We’re going to recognize Sarah,” Trump addressed journalists. “And likewise with Andrew, whether he recovers or not.”

Public Reaction

Community members came together over the past few days at Webster County high school in West Virginia to remember Sarah.

Both they had been working with the military unit as part of Trump’s federal initiative to assist public safety in Washington DC.

Remembering the Soldier

“She was the individual that teachers desired. She carried herself with quiet strength, a contagious smile and a upbeat demeanor that inspired those around her,” the principal, the head of her previous school, informed the Associated Press. “She was kind, compassionate and always eager to support those in need.”

Memorial arrangements for Beckstrom are yet to be finalized.

Officials have charged a twenty-nine-year-old Afghan national with a charge of first-degree murder and charges of assault with intent to kill while carrying a weapon.

The event led the administration to suspend asylum processing and halt issuing visas to owners of travel documents.

Status of the Airman

The airman, a resident of the city, began his service in February 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of his local high school, as reported by the news agency.

He continues to receive treatment and is “fighting for his life”, the state’s leader Morrisey stated on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.
