Kansas City Chiefs Acknowledge Domestic Violence Claims Involving Wide Receiver Rashee Rice

The Kansas City Chiefs issued a statement Wednesday night stating they have knowledge of claims of abuse made public in social media posts by a ex-partner of player the athlete and had been in contact with the NFL.

The organization did not mention Rice specifically in their announcement and said they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

The woman, who likewise did not name Rice directly, shared a set of images on Instagram that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. Jones did say the individual in question was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has two children with Rice, whom the Chiefs drafted in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Currently Not on File

No police reports were on file in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have taken place.

Player's Prior Off-Field Troubles

Rice was absent for the initial part of this NFL campaign due to an NFL suspension for his role in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that left several individuals hurt. He was sentenced 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to serious offenses.

On the field, Rice concluded the year with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Chiefs went with a losing record and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a decade.
