News has broken that fan-favorite stars Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson will reprise their iconic roles in the next chapter of the Hunger Games film series, titled The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. Production is currently underway.
A Significant Reunion for Fans
Lawrence and Hutcherson will once again portray Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, respectively. Speculation suggests their appearance will take the form of a flash-forward sequence, considering the original saga concluded with their characters married and with children.
This marks the sixth film in the highly successful Hunger Games franchise.
The Source Material
Sunrise on the Reaping is adapted from a recent book by series creator Suzanne Collins. It will be the second prequel film after 2023's The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. For this project is Francis Lawrence, who has helmed most of the previous films in the series.
